Our honey ointments, specially intended for people, help with skin complaints such as peri-anal complaints, damaged or dry nasal mucosa, superficial wounds and eczema.
The honey ointments work on the basis of pure honey. Pure honey soothes the skin, has an antibacterial effect and supports wound healing.
Operation of pure honey in honey ointments
Due to a low pH (acidity) and a high sugar content in the pure honey, a honey layer is formed over the wound. This layer protects the wound against the penetration of bacteria: antibacterial protection.
The high sugar content also attracts moisture from the underlying tissue to the wound. This creates a moist wound environment in which wounds can heal faster.
Pure honey has a soothing effect and relieves complaints such as itching, irritation and pain.
